| In 1959,
Lancaster County's original family-style dining room
opened its doors to the public. Back then, the meal was
served by grandmother Lapp from her very kitchen. Not
surprisingly, the site became known as "Plain &
Fancy Farm Dining Room" and never really took on the
notation of "restaurant". |
 |
| Make no
mistake about it, however, Plain & Fancy has welcomed
hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world
who have traveled to the "Farm" along Route 340
between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse to taste and enjoy a
bountiful feast of Pennsylvania Dutch home-style cooking.

You'll start
with sweet and sour relishes, apple butter & breads
baked fresh that day. You'll savor no fewer than three
country meats, including Lancaster County sausage. There
is barely room for your napkin amongst the platters of
egg noodles, dried corn and seasonal vegetables. There's
always plenty of iced tea, lemonade and coffee to quench
your thirst, of course. You'll want to be sure to save
room for the Farm's fresh baked, mouth-watering desserts.
We are particularly proud of our signature wet-bottom
shoo-fly pie which you can even order from us through the mail, and our
signature dessert, apple dumplings. We look forward to welcoming you and your family
and friends to our dining room. We promise that you'll
leave understanding our notion that when you walk through
the front doors, you've come to "eat yourself
full" before you say good-bye. |
