The House Tour

Your 45-minute personally guided tour of nine rooms of this carefully appointed Old Order Amish House offers fascinating insights into Amish life today. The Homestead is continually updated to reflect current Amish furnishings and styles. The schoolroom has become an often photographed visitor favorite.

Orientation Room: Amish Country Homestead

The Fisher One-Room School & Orientation Room

  • Added in 2010! Schoolroom furnished with authentic desks, furnishings and decorations through the cooperation of an Amish school teacher.
  • Discover how eight grades are taught in one room by one teacher.
  • Learn how and why church services are held in the home. Hear rarely heard samples of Amish singing and preaching
  • See how benches turn into tables for lunch after church.
 
Bathroom and "Mud Room"

  • Take a look at Lizzie’s washing machine, operated without electricity.
  • See the scooter, so popular for short trips down the road.
